  • Mathematics NCERT Grade 7, Chapter 9: Rational Numbers- As the name suggests, the chapter deals with rational numbers. A detailed explanation about rational numbers is given in the chapter.

    • A rational number is defined as a number that can be expressed in the form of p/q, where p and q are integers and q ≠ 0.
    Both positive and negative rational numbers are discussed. Subsequently, the concept of rational numbers on a number line is also explained.   • Mathematics NCERT Grade 7, Chapter 10: Practical Geometry- It covers all the fundamentals of drawing parallel lines and construction of triangles. The chapter talks about the construction of a line parallel to a given line, through a point not on the line. The topic is explained with a well labelled diagrammatic description. There are two types of means of doing the same:
    1. Through paper folding when the point is not on the line
    2. Using ruler and compasses only
    Subsequently, the focus is given on the concepts involved in the construction of triangles.
    Explanation of the following topics are covered in a comprehensive manner:

    • Constructing a triangle when the lengths of its three sides are known (SSS criterion).
    • Constructing a triangle when the lengths of two sides and the measure of the angle between them are known (SAS criterion).
    • Constructing a triangle when the measures of two of its angles and the length of the side included between them is given(ASA criterion). 
    • Constructing a Right- Angled Triangle when the length of one leg and its hypotenuse are given(RHS criterion).

  • Mathematics NCERT Grade 7, Chapter 11: Perimeter and Area- This chapter gives all the details about perimeter and area of plane figures. The first half of the section deals with squares and rectangles. This is followed by finding area of parallelograms and triangles through formulas.
    In the other half of the chapter, circles are explained and also students will get the idea about circumference and area of circles.
    Last part of the chapter is about conversion of units and application based questions. One can learn how one unit is converted or written in terms of other units. Drawing solids on a flat surface is explained with the help of oblique sketches and isometric sketches. Moving towards end of the chapter- Visualising Solid Objects, concept of Viewing different sections of a solid will be discussed. Different methods like cutting or slicing an object, shadow play using light source, observing through different angles is discussed.
